The Apollo Guidance Computer was developed in the 1960s for the moon shot. It used 2,800 RTL integrated circuits, each with dual three-input NOR gates, and ROM consisting of core rope memory - a fascinating use of ferrite toroids, where the program is hand-woven through the magnetic cores.
